Need Help Filing Your Taxes?
Tax season can be stressful. The Salvation Army Regina Community Church offers a Free Income Tax Clinic to help individuals and families with modest incomes and simple tax situations complete and file their tax returns.
Our Tax Clinic operates through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), with trained volunteers preparing eligible tax returns at no cost.
Who We Help
Our Free Tax Clinic is designed for individuals and families with modest incomes and simple tax situations.
We may be able to assist seniors, students, newcomers to Canada, individuals receiving EI, and others who meet our eligibility requirements.
What We Offer
- Free tax preparation – Trained CVITP volunteers will prepare and electronically file your eligible tax return.
- Virtual service – Provide your information and tax documents online. Your volunteer may contact you by phone, email or Zoom if they have questions or need additional information.
- In-person service – If you prefer, you can meet with a volunteer in person to discuss your return.
- Confidential service – Your personal and tax information is handled confidentially.
How It Works
- Complete our online registration form
Tell us about yourself, your income and your tax situation. We will use this information to determine whether our clinic can assist you.
- Choose your service option
You can choose between our Virtual Tax Service or In-Person Tax Service.
- Provide your documents
Upload your tax documents through our secure online registration process. Your assigned volunteer may contact you if additional information is needed.
- Your volunteer prepares your return
A trained CVITP volunteer will prepare and electronically file your tax return.
- Receive your confirmation
Once your return has been filed, we will email you a summary of your return and your EFILE receipt. Your official Notice of Assessment will follow from the CRA after your return has been processed.
Important Information
- If you are married or living common-law, we MUST file tax returns for BOTH of you at the same time. A separate registration form must be completed for each person.
- You must be filing your own tax return. If you are completing a return on behalf of another person, you must have a legal Power of Attorney authorizing you to act on their behalf.
- If you are currently unemployed and receiving Employment Insurance (EI), you may still be eligible even if your previous income was above our regular income guideline, provided your return otherwise meets our eligibility requirements.
- If you are new to Canada and meet our income and other eligibility requirements, we can assist with your tax return.
